What will your daughter/sister/girlfriend be when she grows up? Little girls need to see women on tv doing all kinds of work and especially women in positions of power. When young girls in NYC walk through Central Park who do they see? Up until this week, only Alice in Wonderland and Mother Goose. Now, they will see a statue of Sojourner Truth, Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Finally!
What else can we do?
What schools you choose for girls really matters.
What you read to girls matters.
Confidence matters, but it has to come with the right education.
50.8 percent of the U.S. Population are women. Women earn more than 57 percent of undergraduate degrees and 59 percent of graduate degrees. Women account for 47 percent of the labor force and yet their representation in politics, medicine, the law and so many other fields is far less than men. Only 12.5 percent of chief financial officers in Fortune 500 companies are women.
We must show our daughters/sisters/girlfriends that they are smart enough, capable enough and deserving enough for any job they want.
