An enchanting 14 year old African American girl named Zaila Avant-garde from New Orleans won the Scripps National Spelling Bee!
It is not enough that she is a consummate speller, but she also wants to be a WNBA player and join NASA. My bet is on Zaila!
Spelling is important for several reasons:

3. spelling as a skill directly impacts on employment
