A 10 year old named Lily who lives in Houston started a non-profit in honor of her Dad, who died in Afghanistan just before Christmas 5 years ago. She gets toys donated and gives them to churches, hospitals, Head Start Centers and more. Her company is called: Lily's Toy House.
There are so many places to give.For example, Toys for Tots is a huge organization that does this very efficiently. They have seen a 40% drop in donations this season
Or, how about baking for your doormen or doctors or mail delivery people or anyone you are grateful to.
This is a perfect opportunity to teach children about caring and empathy for others. How about writing notes of appreciation to people in your life, or a drawing or send dinner.
May this holiday season remind all of us to be grateful for what we have, not angry about what we don't have.
